The iconic Luna Park has been around for what feels like forever (102 years in fact). Take a walk through Melbourne's most famous 'Mr Moon' face and enter into a magical kids world of 1930's style amusements.

There is no line-up to get in, just enter through the 'Mr Moon' face and once you're inside kids rule the roost! You buy your tickets for rides once inside and go from there. As height restrictions are in place for rides it's natural some of the rides will be out of bounds for younger tots (even the Carousel has height restrictions). Our 4 year old rode the Carousel, Red Baron and Arabian Merry. Our six year old had more options when accompanied by a paying adult. It is important to note that Luna Park is not a large 'theme park'. But the benefits are that the lines are a reasonable length (much longer in School Holidays though) and the park is very clean and well maintained with friendly staff.

We highly recommend getting an unlimited day pass. Even though it is not cheap, if you are planning to go on lots of rides, it is essential otherwise you'll be paying about $9.00 per ride which adds up at the end of your visit. You can purchase rides online at an off peak time.

If you need some food-fuel after experiencing some ride action, there's the usual host of fast-food fare on offer (dagwood dogs, popcorn, hot chips, doughnuts etc) or pack a picnic and plant yourself down on the picnic tables and benches inside the park or the grassy patch just outside the gates or there's always Acland Street with cafes and restaurants in abundance.

The atmosphere, mixed with a sunny day, makes for a fun-filled morning or afternoon out in St. Kilda.
