Little Melbourne Reviews
A love of books is one of the greatest gifts we can give our little ones, and with good bookstores slowly dwindling in number in Melbourne, we've been on the hunt to find the best of what's left!
So get behind our Bookstores and give the gift of reading and sharing stories and let it linger. If you're in the City The Little Library on Level 2 at Melbourne Central lends out books for free and you're welcome to take a book and give one back. The State Library of Victoria also has a similar concept out the front of the building. So share the reading around and remember to give back.
A little bookish news...
Robinson's Bookshop who have branches in Chadstone, Frankston and Greensborough are branching out and are soon to open a bookstore in the Emporium Melbourne. Just another reason to love the City.
The Little Bookroom has been bringing children's books to Melbourne since 1960. Visit their shops in Carlton North and Degraves St (Melbourne CBD). When we're in the City we always take a walk to the Degraves Street Store afterall it's across from our favourite cupcake store, Little Cupcakes.
The Carlton North store hosts bookish events, launches, storytime and book club every 2nd Wednesday. View Events Here.

The Younger Sun is the baby of the Sun Bookstore and directly opposite it. It has something for teeny tiny want-to-be readers to older teens. It's certainly a bright spot in the West. Kids Bookclub meets once a month.

One of my favourite streets in Melbourne to wonder down is Coventry Street in South Melbourne and half way down is a favourite store to browse and purchase from, the Coventry Bookstore. Head down the back of this warm and cosy shop for the Children's selection of the latest books on offer, great classics and books for little and big. They also sell a lovely range of birthday cards and a few quirky gift ideas are on offer.

I love a well stocked bookstore for children and a bookstore that combines quality toys/gifts. Often if there's a birthday party looming i'll pick up a new book and add a little extra by way of toy to the package and Enchanted Years stocks by far the best combo that i've seen.
They also hold dedicated Story Times on a Tuesday (English) and occasionally a Foreign Language Story Time. They also hosts special events.

Readings has five stores operating in Melbourne. They have stores in St Kilda, Hawthorn, Carlton, Malvern and the State Library and the children's selection is always in abundance with quality reads, lots of good pre-teen books, children's favorites and we love their baby board book selection.
