Little Melbourne Reviews
Lions and tigers and bears....ooh my! Well, you won't find any of those here at the Moonlit Sanctuary Wildlife Conservation Park but you will find wallabies, kangaroos, dingoes, turtles, koalas, emus, native birds, barn owls, pythons and Tasmanian devils.
Unlike a Zoo, you'll get an upfront, hands-on and personal experience by hand feeding the wallabies and kangaroos or for an extra $10 you can purchase a close encounter with a koala or python ( we watched an English woman complete one of her bucket lists with a python around her neck) or listen to some free informative special ranger talks.
Here you get to wander freely through 10 hectares of bushland at your own pace, past cages, enclosures and birdlife in the wetlands, wallabies and kangaroos hopping at your feet and going about their business and you get to explore the bush in its natural environment.
There's a gift shop on entrance (and it's the only way out), an indoors cafe serving light refreshments and the staff are super friendly and approachable.
If you're heading to the Mornington Peninsula or Phillip Island for a mini escape/holiday this is well worth the visit if you want to experience native animals and it breaks up your journey mid way. This is one of those things that the Adults get as much out of as the kids!
Purchase some wallaby/kangaroo food at the front desk for $2. You'll WANT to feed them on the wallaby walk.
