Castlemaine playspace

castlemaine botanical gardens playspace

Within the beautiful botanical gardens lies a wondrous play space for children and under the shade of a huge age-old royal oak tree.

The gardens boasts fascinating plants ranging from California Red Gums to historic Weeping Elms with many wonderful shrubs and trees, a beautiful rose garden, arbours, a wonderful lake and fountain, picnic spots, arbours, walking paths (good to walk your dog on) and of course, the impressive playground.

There's a large covered BBQ area just perfect for a gathering of friends and birthday parties. Fun playground equipment from bridges, a flying fox, monkey bars, slides and swings. In the design local materials were used wherever possible, including logs sourced from tree lopping within the Gardens themselves. Elements of the playspace include a ‘treehouse’ area, equipment for physical play such as a hammock and a junior kids structure that features special oak leaf panels. The gold mining theme is expressed through a Miner’s cottage and Log train that travels towards an arched bridge.
