If you haven't already heard of The Hungry Peacock, then make your mark for this kid-friendly cafe on the Mornington Peninsula. The Hungry Peacock cafe is the perfect place for families to enjoy great coffee and treats or a bite to eat while the kids can explore both indoors and out. A true haven. Definitely made with kids in mind. But, wait, there's more! It's so much more than a 'kid-friendly cafe' with an adjacent shed just made for messy play!

Inside there's long wooden tables adorned with baskets of wooden blocks and props for creative play. The smalls will love creating a prehistoric scene with small dinosaurs and blocks while enjoying a babycino and sandwich. There is a home corner play kitchen and a construction area too - both bound to be a hit. A racetrack on the wall is a great spot to have that car race with a friend.

Pop outdoors and there's even more seating with a cubby house and sand play area. There are lots of food options from savoury and sweet that will get the juices going. Access is via a small brick path up to the cafe which has wide open doors suiting both wheelchair and pram access.

On the same grounds as the cafe is the newly opened Messy Shed which is open Tues-Sunday with hour sessions at both 9.30am and 11am at $10 a child. Each week they host a different theme around 4 tables and on the outskirts are the consistent painting, sensory rice play, peg board and box construction area. Parents are able to engage with their child also with seating on the side. The kids will love bathing babies and washing their clothes which encourages cooperative play and language development and the mess isn't yours! The box construction area allows the kids to have everything they need at their eye level and encourages independence in your little troopers.
They have had groups of 15 kids and bookings are advisable. The shed is large and flat and easily accessible for both wheelchairs and prams. There is a small shop attached featuring handmade gifts. You are welcome to grab a coffee from the cafe and bring that into the Shed. Parents must supervise their children. You'll love the opportunity to get messy too! It's the perfect place to muck in and really play with your kids.

So grab the kids and go, just go! Or get together with your Mum's group - you'll be the talk of the week...or year!
