If you’re after an inexpensive family day of fun in the sun look no further…

Locals living in Geelong will no doubt be well aware of its iconic beach and kid-friendly attractions on Eastern Beach but here’s a heads up for those that may not!

The carousel, sky wheel, trampolines, Thomas the Tank train, children’s pool and enclosed beach, just to name a few. Pack the bathers and slap on the sunscreen now!

Most Melbournites will know Geelong is a relatively short trip along the freeway. Once you’re there, park the car, head on over to Eastern Beach and start exploring.

Once the kids tire of that take a stroll along the palm-lined esplanade where you’ll find Geelong’s famed swimming enclosure – a half circular shark-gated structure complete with floating islands, diving boards and a beautiful sandy beach that’s big enough to accommodate the busiest of days. Directly behind the swimming enclosure you’ll find a life-guarded shallow children’s pool (complete with fountain for lots of splashy fun!) and kiosk for when hunger pangs strike.

There’s loads of seating and grassy areas for picnickers and budding cricketers plus hilly areas for little ones to roll down. And to top it off, a magnificent playground complete with stunning backdrop of the beach. Add Thomas the Tank rides (good value at $6 a pop), the sky wheel ($8) and trampolining, carousel (and much more) and you’ve got an awesome day out.

With two months left of summer, it’s the perfect time to go!
