Daylesford & Macedon Ranges
Australia’s Spa Capital, the historic Hepburn Bathhouse & Spa is nestled in the Hepburn Mineral Springs Reserve near Daylesford.
The foyer/reception area is impressive with its rustic yet modern architecture incorporating large windows and natural timbers and a subtle aroma lulling you into the illusion that you are about to enter a truly tranquil world.
The bath house is well run and very clean with great facilities. Downstairs (or in our case...the lift) you're greeted by a staff member and your locker key. Here you'll have the option of hiring towels ($5) and bathrobes ($7).
We were fortunate that the bathhouse was not particularly busy at the time we arrived, but it did become busier over the next hour. The change rooms (Unisex) were clean and generous in size with private showers and there's a Family Room available with shower, toilet and change table.
Apart from a few hushes to keep our little ones quiet (or so we weren't getting eye contact from other bathers) the experience was quite peaceful and enjoyable and of course the setting of natural bushland that you gaze out to helps! After time (a two hour limit in the water) it did start to feel like you were immersed in a large luke warm bath.
Of course the Bathouse offers treatments and luxury spa packages of every dimension.
Included in our entry was Devonshire tea at The Pavilion Cafe which is a very short walk outdoors from The Bathhouse. Do not expect fine china and the works at this little cafe, however, we sat outside and enjoyed our food and the service was fine. The real highlight for our kids was the little playground 'Hepburn Mineral Reserve Playground' and the walking track at the back of The Pavilion Cafe as it's a pretty place to laze away a couple of hours or enjoy a picnic.
Although our whole family visited The Bathhouse, it's best kept for a Mum's weekend away or a Parents retreat if the occassion pops up!
