Within the beautiful botanical gardens lies a wondrous play space for children and under the shade of a huge age-old royal oak tree.
The gardens boasts fascinating plants ranging from California Red Gums to historic Weeping Elms with many wonderful shrubs and trees, a beautiful rose garden, arbours, a wonderful lake and fountain, picnic spots, arbours, walking paths (good to walk your dog on) and of course, the impressive playground.
Hanging Rock is a hauntingly beautiful and rare volcanic formation near the townships of Woodend and Mount Macedon.
Park the car and get ready to explore the rock and grounds. The vast grounds are just perfect for a walk around and picnic. There's lots of space including a playground, shady trees and covered areas and there's a cafe (closed Mondays) on site and a discovery centre. The discovery centre has great information about the geological details to do with the Rock and the part it plays in the local community and popular culture.
For your caffeine hit and breakfast, lunch or treat sanctuary, we highly recommend 3 Little Pigs Cafe.
