With views stretching out over the east of the Dandenong Ranges, RJ Hamer Arboretum is a beautiful place to take a quiet, peaceful stroll along the many walking tracks and roads of the Arboretum or sit and take in the tranquil beauty and stunning scenery. Either way, it's a pretty day trip to get away from the hustle and bustle of Melbourne life. Arboretum means ‘a place for trees’ in Latin and its spectacular trees are a definite highlight here.
Upon exploring further, you can find young Sequoia, towering pines and native eucalyptus, ferns, and several imported trees from other parts of the world. You'll also find clusters of monarch birches, canoe birches, maples, oaks and elms. There's many winding paths you can choose to wander.
Overall it's a great day out and somewhere families can spend time having a picnic, you can walk the family dog along the walking tracks, there's toilets, BBQ and tables and seats and plenty of parking.
